Greetings! My name is Deniz, and I am a zoologist who went back to grad school to study art history and visual culture! My current research involves exploring animal iconography from around the world, ancient to modern, via intersections of natural history, art history, and cultural history. I also teach K-12 zoology-themed courses on Outschool (including a special series on animals in world art history).
This website and its accompanying social media feeds are works-in-progress. In addition to serving as my personal research and travel blog, I will be curating “animal art of the day” posts, posting info on new and upcoming animal-themed exhibitions and book releases, sharing stories about animal art discoveries in both scholarship and the popular press, and so on.
You can find me at the links above, or use the contact form below to get in touch anytime. Cheers 🙂
