This fabulous frog racking up likes and retweets on Twitter can be found amongst the over 100 species of flora and 50 species of fauna in a huge scroll painting by Ito Jakuchu called “Saichufu” (also known in English as “Compendium of Vegetables and Insects”). Here is a detail of the portion of the scroll it is on, along with a thumbnail of the entire scroll (sorry, that is all the museum has publically posted!):

From the museum link above is also an announcement about its upcoming public exhibition: the first half (starting from the right as these scrolls are read right to left) will be on display from 17 September – 30 October 2022, then the second half (the part the frog is on!) will be on display from 1 November – 13 November 2022. Hopefully there will be lots of good photos taken and shared while it is out!
